Sat 30th November 11:20 Bobby and Ron’s birthday row to Mengeham Rhythe (UPDATED)

Two of our members, who both aptly have Christian names that start “Ro”, will celebrate their 70th birthday a handful of days either side of the 30th November. To celebrate this, we will have a birthday excursion row for Bobby and Ron on 30th November. High tide is 13:37 so we will meet at 11:20 to get the boats ready for a departure as soon as the tide allows.

Bobby has arranged for us to be able to visit Mengeham Rythe Sailing Club and the bar will be open especially for us.

Bobby has also kindly arranged for some food options. For £5 we have an option of a hot pork bap, with homemade apple sauce, stuffing and crackling, or a vegetarian burger.

Bobby has suggested a silly hat theme, so it would be good if everyone can wear some form of fancy headwear or wig or both, or maybe plastic rain hats if it is another damp day!!!

UPDATE 29/11: The forecast for tomorrow is looking better than it has over the past few days. It will be dry but with a reasonable easterly breeze. I will keep my eye on this but based on the current forecast, the row will be on. Please bring several layers. If the weather does turn for the worse, the food and drink option will still be available at the Sailing Club. For anyone who would like to go just for drink / food, we will aim to arrive between 12:30 and 12:45. Would be good if we could have 3 or so more rowers sign up so that we could take a third boat (hats and food are optional!!!).

Obviously this row is dependent on the weather. With regards to the food, the Saturday forecast will be checked on Thursday evening, and if it does not look good, the food options will be cancelled.

I would like to join you for row and lunch as you are inviting more people to join in. I didn't sign up before as I've been suffering a cold followed by chest infection for over a month, but now got rid of it. If I will mess up the numbers then I could drive down. Veggie option please if not too late. Liz
