It is really not acceptable for sewage and other sanitary items to be dumped in the sea in this day and age

Signed Michael. I don’t often sign online petitions but do feel strongly about this. These companies take money compulsorily from us all for stuff that falls out of the sky free of charge. At the other end they have a responsibility to take care of our lovely harbour and beaches - but they spend the money on shareholders profits rather than fix it. Even if it means our paying more for water/sewerage, they must be made to do it.

I agree that it is quite unacceptable that Southern Water can still, legally, dump raw sewage into the Harbour when it rains. 

That it has no plans to build the plant necessary to stop the pollution. 

That our local authorities (HBC and HCC) and regulators have no plans to make them change...

That our MP just wants to be photographed supporting something...

I am very happy to support this attempt to make SW more accountable, by any legal means!
I am also in total agreement with Mike's 4 punchline points.
I am also sad to think that the position of SW has not materially changed since I first got involved in monitoring the water quality around our shores, and especially in Langstone harbour, fifty (yes, 50 !!! ) years ago.
  The only changes have occurred when they have so blatantly flouted all health legislation (and got caught), that they realised that the cost of the fines would (did) outweigh the cost of compliance.
Back in 1974 they were mandated to upgrade secondary (in some cases primary) treatment to tertiary treatment. UV treatment of effluent took about a quarter of a century for them to belatedly install in some plants.
I could go on......(I know I frequently do! )
