Open rowing is not happening on Sunday because of the adverse tides, so I propose a lunchtime outing to investigate The Ship Inn, Itchenor. It's not a particularly picturesque pub but it does a wide range of local beers and serves food.
The forecast according to XCWeather is for positive temperatures, some sun, easterly breezes. Shame to waste it, really.
This is a reasonably beefy row at eight miles each way, but because low water is at 13.44 we should be able to time it to get the ebb on the way down to the harbour mouth, slack water up to Itchenor, slack on the way back to the harbour mouth and pick up the first of the flood on the way up.
So here's the plan:
10.30 Meet at the Mill, load boat(s) on trailer(s). Tow round to Northney.
11.00 Launch at North Slip. Casually inform gig rowers what fun they are missing.
12.30 Arrive Itchenor.
BEER
13.30 Leave Itchenor.
15.00 Return Northney, recover boat(s).
15.30 Return boat(s) to boat park.
All timings are approximate.
