I've never done a Trafalgar Night so wouldn't have a clue - but am happy to be helper to someone au fait with what needs doing. If indeed help is needed...
Having arranged a couple of fairly decent Christmas dos in the past, I’m happy to take on Trafalgar night too - if the committee are happy for me to do so?
I assume, the room upstairs in The Ship? …..Also, is there a particular date we have to celebrate on, or is it a little flexible?!
Let me know if you’re happy for me to start arranging and touting out tickets, menus etc etc……
That said, I’m very happy to stand down for a year if someone else would rather take the job on.
Just let me know your thoughts,
Matt
The season of formal Trafalgar Night dinners, celebrated by navies throughout the Commonwealth, starts on Trafalgar Day, October 21st, and ends November 5th with Pickle Night, which celebrates the arrival in London of Lieutenant John Lapenotiere on HMS Pickle, carrying news of victory over the French and Spanish fleet at Trafalgar and the death of Lord Nelson.
Wow, I’ve been a few times but just thought it was about speeches and passing the port.
It’s all yours Alan, I think you’ll make a great job if you fancy taking it on and organising….
I’m happy to stick with Christmas (something I know more about) and Pam is offering all services to help you, so think it’ll be a great night in both your hands.
Thank you Pam, but I think Alan has a much better handle on the evenings proceedings and meanings than I do, so I’m happy to step aside for this one. Or maybe the 3 of us could organise and learn together. Let’s all stay in touch and see what we come up with together.
