This week's row Thurs 4th Dec

Administrator
Hi all, the tides are not good for rowing from the Mill this week but Mike has kindly offered to let us use one of his LAR gigs. The only day with wind speeds that look reasonable is Thursday which is forecast to be dry if a bit cold. Chris P has suggested we might take the opportunity to row a bit further and visit Boater's bar at Thornham marina for lunch. I'm proposing a row from the marina at 12 noon for a late lunch and back by about 4 pm. If it looks too windy or too far on the day we will choose somewhere closer.

...just be aware the Adventure Gigs is much slower than a Galley.... Don't be too challenging....

Hi all, so we have 7 + passenger so a full crew .....

Debbie

reserves Jackie
             Mike

After consultation I think Boater's is too far in an Adventure Gig and since low tide is 14.50 there won't be enough water to get there ( sorry Chris! ). I suggest we aim for the Piranha bar which usually takes around an hour and a half in that boat so will still give us a good work out.

See you at the marina ....

I can tow a galley or a Teifi round to the North Slip and launch there if we have enough to that as well.

Thanks Chris that is a great offer and one we might well need to take you up on!  It means Jackie and Mike can definitely row and we can cope with a few more too if people want to join us.

Rachel, after all this wait to retire, Cheryl and I are sorry that we can't make tomorrow. Cheryl is quite poorly with an infection but is on the mend and I have appointments to catch up with things that I have been waiting for. However, we wish you all a great row and will be with you soon.

Hi Chris do you think you will be able to tow a Teifi round tomorrow? High tide is 9.30 so I wasn't sure whether you could get round to the Mill in time for a 12 noon start?

Hi all, I have to be honest tomorrow's row is looking like a a bit of a survival exercise! The forecast is still dry but with a bit more wind so that the 'feels like' temperature is 1 degree. I am still keen to go ahead but I am an addict and would probably row in a blizzard :-) There is no shame in dropping out if you want to, but if you are still keen please bring lots of layers, waterproofs to keep the wind out and hats and gloves.
