Re: URGENT Boat Park landscaping ? All Hands

Andy Mac
Hi Steve

I am busy for the majority of the week, hence I am unable to join Rachel's Thursday row.

I could however take some time off work mid afternoon Thursday and arrive at the boat park around 3 pm ish!

More than happy to help out and do my bit, but, I am travelling from Arundel and would need to be shown  what to do.

I would be prepared to work until it gets dark, to make the most of it.

Other than bunking off Thursay afternoon, I am tied up all week.
Best
Andy

Thank you, there are some tools. if you have shovels /rakes/buckets /sieves /secateurs/loppers the more kit the better. Weather looks grim but hopefully we can progress.

I can do Thursday so I will stay on after the rowing for the rest of the day.
Could possibly do Tuesday afternoon or Weds afternoon but weather looks grim.

Tuesday: 1. De-stoning the earth pile is the priority whilst not getting the soil wet , probably not viable this morning if the forecast delivers, possibly later in the day. 2. Digging out the tree sump of the deceased tree ready to plant a new one 3. General tidy up of brambles and any debris 4. Storing Richards bridge planking that allows future access Buckets, bins and bags along with the appropriate tools would be appreciated. N.B. Given the enviroment Rats are common and still spred Leptosporosis (Wiels disease) and the soil could harbour all sorts of debris (Christine did unearth a penny!) So please consider using gloves , wash and dress wounds immediately and don't forget the the Mosquitos. Nigel, will be on site mid-morning and I will keep this post updated as best I can but do feel free to add availability, comments and progress etc Many Thanks Steve

I have done 2 large bags of sieved soil, ran out of space to put it.  Suggest if there are no other bags to work from harbour side to boat park in pile so as we don't do the same bit twice.  Waiting for the rain to stop to see if I get round today.  ( ignore this if you already have another system marked out)

Crew,

Rain has stopped play! Nigel's drainage system is now covered with 2.5 Tons of shingle ! Soil is to be sieved and the "rubble/spoil" distributed and the remaining sifted soil to be placed in bags and containers and eventually used to top and then be sown. Christine has done agreat job to date. The suggested system is that one person shovels, one sifts and another distributes the spoil.

We can get this done by Friday.... Let's do it! Any sieves /buckets/bags appreciated !

09.30 start if you can make tomorrow! Also row on Thursday and then come and play. Maybe a Friday row and play too best of all we can go to the pub afterwards !

Row on.........

Sorry I wasn't free until the heavy rain yesterday, so didn't make it, Marcus did a bit last night.  I now have family staying and a bit of work, so if I get an inbetween moment I'll see you there.  Thanks all for your hard work.

All, please spare a thought for Heather who endured a day in the boat park with messers Armstrong, Shilling and Woods!

However we achieved a lot working as a team.

The job is not finished, more sifting and then some shifting. Weather permitting we should make the target of Friday completion. If you are contemplating a session this evening please contact Nigel or myself for instructions.

If not then Nigel will be on site tomorrow after the row and again on Friday morning.

Thank you in anticipation

Steve
